I'm looking for something new to play but I don't seem to have much luck finding much.  So, do any of you guys have any recommendations?   What are your faves? :)

Chex Skulltag Pack has had a lot of updates since you were last here

Also, Chex Quest: The Lost Quest is good.

Yeah, I've just tried out the latest release.  It's looking really good.

Thanks for the suggestion.  I'll give TLQ a blast later today.

Nobody else got any suggestions?  I've been playing through Nitro's Chex lately and though it's nice enough I'd love to see what would be considered 'classics'.  Doom has Alien Vendetta, Suspended in Dusk etc.  What does Chex have to offer?? :)

Not a lot, unfortunately, Quadrumpusguy is working a set of single player maps for the mod so that there will be another good, full, Skulltag-compatible mod to play online.

Most of the games made here are improvements on the Chex levels; you could try:

Chex Quest: The Lost Quest for GzDoom

The Ultimate Chex Quest - Boingo the Clown, it's for Doom Legacy
Strife's Level Packs - also for Legacy
Newmaps is also for legacy, the first few maps aren't good, but I've heard it gets better later on. I remember having fun with it, but that was a few years ago.

You can find these mods here: http://gallery.xboltz.net/downloads/

Also:

Chex Quest: A New Mission, by the Slimeinator, is a great mod. http://www.chexquest.org/index.php?board=47.0
Chex Quest: World Trek was good, but the download links are broken.
Chex Quest: Ragnarok was QG's first wad, it's too hard at times, but it has some interesting areas : http://www.chexquest.org/index.php?board=80.0

EDIT : Chex Quest: The Lost Quest is for GzDoom, not Legacy, it was made by Arch129
The Ultimate Chex Quest is for Legacy, it was made by Boingo The Clown.

Not a lot, unfortunately

...what? Back in the day we had huge numbers of WADs going. Obviously nothing modern lately but we've still got a darn lot to show for it.

Per-Scan, check out both the Fan Projects Directory and the CQ Gallery and http://gallery.xboltz.net/

Oh look! Xbolt found some mods that predate even him. ;)

Thanks again.  I'll be checking out these wads for the next while I think.  So many are for Legacy which is a source port that causes me no end of troubles but I'll try the new build recently revealed on Doomworld - wish me luck! :)

I've played every Chex mod I can find, including every wad on the chex quest gallery (literally every wad; including the since5 maps), and I can only think of one at the moment that's 32 levels long like Alien Vendetta or Momento Mori, and I got bored and quit before the 5th or 6th level. I think it was by the Slimeinator; I admire his effort, but aside from Chex Quest: A New Mission, his mapping is ugly, and very frustrating to play. It's not because it's hard, UAC Ultra is hard, and it's a great map pack, but his mods usually make me want to quit after two or three maps because the difficulty is mostly involved in struggling to move away from unfair fights or deadly traps.

I'll try Chex Quest: Generation 2 again, I think the one I mentioned here was named Chex Quest : A New Era.

EDIT - the download link for Chex Quest: Generation 2 is broken, can somebody upload it? I found one on the fan projects directory, the one in the subforum is broken.

EDIT2 - Chex Quest: The New Era doesn't work on Skulltag, and GzDoom is hard to install on Linux, so I can't verify what I said at this time. It says "third episode", so perhaps that wasn't the one that was 32 levels.

EDIT3 - The 32 level mod I was thinking of was The New Chex Quest : Generation 2. I got it confused because I was thinking of another mod by the Slimeinator with almost the same name which I like a lot; this.

Does anyone have that? It starts in an underwater base, the second level starts next to the water, and you must dive down into it to activate a switch. I haven't played that mod in years, and I would like to play it again.

That is not true by any means. The Chex Skullpack is my justification for this.

The Chex Skullpack is still alive, and is NOWHERE near dead. In fact, I've been working on a set of Vanilla maps for a nearly entire Vanilla episode. Episode One of Chex Quest 3 is being revamped as we speak. Duel Maps have been added, and even a HUB for selecting a Duel Map.
There have even been other people outside of the CQFF offering to do some mapping and other work.

I made a mistake in my second post, Chex Quest : The Lost Quest is NOT for Legacy, it's for GzDoom, and it's by Arch129. The Ultimate Chex Quest is by Boingo the Clown, that mod is for Legacy. I recommend both.

Also, I second Quadrumpusguy;  Chex 3d models in Skulltag, GLDEFS on all zorch states (including flemoids) and all projectiles, a new skin, new weapons (including custom sprites), 7 duel and 8 DM maps, invasion mode things, new weapon codes, and zorch pain/death states for Chexter is not "Obviously nothing". The only thing obvious is that you either didn't think carefully about what you're trying to say, or you don't pay enough attention to know to what makes a good Doom/Chex mod.

Touchy...

But i do have to agree with what 75 said about the Slimeinator's mapping, although reluctantly. I just couldn't keep playing.

Man, if only i could figure out how to get legacy to work T_T
Shh!  I'm taking a break from reality.

...75 already mentioned the Skulltag pack. I'm not going to repeat what's already been said.

Chill, people.

You're missing the point.

I hosted CQ Skulltag for 2 years and pioneered (after GM) the CQ Multiplayer tradition, do you really think I'm missing the point?

It's very clear from that last post that you're missing the point, since what you said has nothing to do with his or my objection to your statement:

Why do you keep trying to pretend you don't know what we're trying to say? If that's not what you meant just say so, it's easier that way. Are you making the case that my mod is nothing?
if you are; it's only your loss, really.
9/20/2015 EDIT: (looking through my old posts) wow, looking back that was really rude of me to say that, sorry CC/BC, I regret starting the whole thing.
