Fed up with Recovery Media.

So I was trying to get the files off of my aunt's old computer which I can have once I get them off. My dad thought it would be best to just take the hard drive out, put a new one in, and then reinstall Windows 10 onto the new one. I ordered the new one, and then I tried to create a recovery disc so I could reinstall Windows 10 on to the new one without buying another copy. I tried a DVD, and after about 1 hour of burning, it failed. I tried 3 more discs, and I must have wasted 3-4 hours just trying to create recovery media. I then tried creating the recovery to a flash drive, but when it gave me the option to select a flash drive, nothing showed up. I then did a quick format of the drive, and then formatted the drive overnight with the longer option. I wake up in the morning, check on it, it's formatted. I then open recovery media creation, select the USB drive option, and BAM.
Nothing shows up.
At this point I was pretty infuriated so I then googled it, and then found out that the 64gig I was using was too big as the flash drive needed to be 32GB or under to show up.
I was very annoyed at the fact that if I had Googled it earlier, I would have saved myself several hours. I then found a 16GB flash drive in a drawer I had, and checked it. It had all mp3s on it (just music) which turns out, it was my brother's. He wanted the drive, so I then took my Gorilla drive and the recovery should (finally) work once I try it. I'm copying my videos that I was editing yesterday to the 64GB drive so I don't lose them. I hope the recovery will work finally.

Why use Recovery Media? You can find a copy of the Windows 10 .iso (legally), burn it to a disk, and just re-install on the new hard drive. You don't even need a key, since in this case the Mobo hasn't changed. Recovery Media will also keep any bloatware that first came with the computer.

I can confirm this, I've reformatted hard drives completely then reinstalled Windows 7 without needing a new license, make sure your Windows "edition" matches, though, i.e., you can't use a Windows 7 Pro disk with a Windows 7 Home Edition license or vice versa.

I had the same problem with recovery media, when I went to "back up" windows 7, I quickly found that (at the time) I didn't have any flash drives big enough to do it, and it would take 3-4 DVDs to make it work.

I'd actually recommend a clean install just for the sake of removing bloatware, my laptop runs about twice as fast after a clean install.
