Title: Official Version 0.15 Release Thread
Post by: The Green Avenger on October 11, 2008, 08:59:48 PM
Chaos on Flemoid Prime version 0.15 is released!
New features:

FS Cutscenes
Two new levels
New content
Puzzles
And more... :D

Credits:

Concept, Mapping, Fragglescript: The Green Avenger
Green Chex Man Spriteset: Arch129
Fade Scripts and Walking Chex Man DeHackEd file: XBolt

Tools:

DooM Builder
wHackEd 2
XWE
DeepSea
Paint.NET

Notes:

Maps E1M4 and E1M5 still have many unsightly mapping errors, and almost all levels have my general dull gray and boring look to them.  Hopefully, gameplay makes up for this.

Map E1M5 has problems at the end, doesn't logically connect to E1M6.  This is because the concept for the connection is in the early stages, but I don't have enough to put it down yet.  If I do before I'm done with the voices, I'll upload a new version of the unvoiced COFP as well.

Information:

Version: 0.15
Engine: DooM Legacy 1.42 (GZDooM will not work)
Levels: E1M1-E1M6, E2M1-E2M2
Download: Link (http://files.filefront.com/COFPv015wad/;12039614;/fileinfo.html)
Type: Single Player

Enjoy!  And please post any questions, comments, complaints, or any other such thing in this topic.  If you find a bug, please tell me.  I'm trying to build as much of a bug-free game as I can.

Yay, I played it! ^^

Thats some good levels TGA, and the cut scenes were niffty!  ;)
The only thing that bothers me is the textureing and the lack of lighting in the first episode, but besides that its all good.  ;D

I can't wait to see some more levels. ^^

*grin* He sure aint a good interior decorator XD

The cutscenes are awesome, and if he releases the voiced version, it will be PWNZ, cuz I've done some of the lines lol
also, I loved the 2nd training level...that was really great. (though 45 seconds is kinda...high)

I plan to remedy my poor interior decorating for the next numbered release.  This timw I mean it, because I have a stockpile of new, awesome textures from CQ3, as well as a few idea of how to make the levels look good.  The next version may be basically a redecorating version, maybe +1 level.

Sorry you keep on dying, Pikazec.  I may be messing with adding things for lower difficulty levels, but I intend to keep this as at least the Extreme Ooze difficulty.

45 seconds of what, AG?

in E2M2, the timer goes "You finished in 45 seconds or less!" and I got it on 21 first go around...unless they walk up there, or dont use the mouse, I dont think 45 is much of a challenge...but IDK, mebe just me.

You sure ain't been paying much attention, have you?  I am trying to get that done, but my texturer went AWOL, and I was having to try to do that and create good levels at the same time.

Still, if you're finally going to try to do this, go for it.  It's not like I can't use the help.

You have to add the file CQUESTP2B3.WAD to the 'Flats and Textures from file' box.  I have not yet added the textures to the CoFp WAd file.

For the record, why don't you just walk fifteen feet to my bedroom to ask me this?  :D

I played it and got to the elevator in the flemoid base that looks like a high school, when I pushed the button it said there was a segmentation violation.

Did you play in OpenGL mode?  It is required.  I never had trouble with it personally.

Yes I did.

Hmm...  I never had a problem.  Does it play the last cutscene, or does it segment violate before that point?

I don't get it...  Anyone else had this problem?

For Super Searcher: Try it again.  I want to know if it was a one-time thing like I suspect.

It has come to my attention that somehow the newest CoFP download has become unavailable for some reason.  I have reuploaded it, and it is available here: http://files.filefront.com/COFPv015wad/;13786876;/fileinfo.html

Are you going to get back to work on CoFP soon?

Besides the fact that FileFront utterly sucks, is it possible the reason your file was removed was because of a lack of downloads of that particular file?

Sad to think, but possible.  Although, there is a TXT on that FF account that has all of 1 dl, and is still there, dunno...

It is possible I might get back into this, but imporbible.  I'm graduating tomorrow, and after that...  The dropoff 0_0

can't blame FF on this one, my Alpha release wad is still on FF, and it hasn't had a download in months

2018 EDIT: On retrospect FF was a terrible idea, pretty much everything on FF is gone now

We need to give more credence to the idea that FileFront itself removed TGA's file. I was loafing around, trying to find some of Atariangamer's MP3s, and noticed a large discrepancy. Atariangamer's FileFront profile (http://hosted.filefront.com/atariangamer) says he has 24 files uploaded, but a Google cache from Apr 20, 2009 05:08:35 GMT (http://74.125.95.132/search?q=cache:Ry0E9BV-Qm0J:files.filefront.com/admiral%2Bstrifemp3/%3B8834460%3B/fileinfo.html+admiral_strife&cd=2&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us&client=firefox-a) says he has 36 files. I did a comparison, and saw that he was missing three Chex Quest MP3s from what I had downloaded, and that isn't counting other stuff he had that got lost. FileFront may have a strange waiting period before removing files, like 6 months with no downloads, only X amount of downloads in 6 months, etc.

What do I need to load CoFP? ???

Screw it, I'll just post a thread asking how to load a number of wads that I've downloaded. It's getting so convoluted that I can't remember which wad goes with which engine! :D

CoFP is in the Fan Projects Directory, and that describes how you must set it up.

Again, I reccomend ZDL. It's simple and helps you organize the wad mess.

I'm just asking why he bumped it. It's fine that he did, I was just wondering why. XD
