Title: Feed Back Topic.
Post by: Replica on January 13, 2008, 10:29:26 PM
Please post Feed back on the newest beta.

I like the concept of a seeker zorcher (with blue zorch to boot!) But, I never got the point of the Zorch canister-things. Overall, I'd say it's a great mod. Zdoom is a pretty good engine, after all.

Why do the Ultrici (plural of Ultricus?) still look like they are getting zorched when they shoot slime?
Title: Re: Feed Back Topic.
Post by: Replica on January 14, 2008, 08:44:23 PM
Whats does this do?
I dont think they do  :-\  do you mean the Fattnoid?
Title: Re: Feed Back Topic.
Post by: Manny Cav on January 14, 2008, 08:51:14 PM
I said Ultricus (Ultrici). You know, the Super Cycloptis.
Title: Re: Feed Back Topic.
Post by: Replica on January 14, 2008, 08:53:57 PM
I know. I thought you meant Fattnoid and said that instead :-[ OH well. And I dont think he does that ;)
Title: Re: Feed Back Topic.
Post by: Manny Cav on January 14, 2008, 08:58:00 PM
I just tried out your mod and browsed around a little. The Super Cycloptis looks like it's getting zorched whenever it shoots a slime ball.

Dang :o! I'm not sure why its doing that!  :'( I also have many many bugs to fix as well! Like, i  need to chyange the Quadrumpas to my decorate. Now it looks like a chex statue. Sorry about that guys :'(

I was taking some screenshots of errors while I was playing through your latest beta. You beat me to the statue thing, but you have a missing texture here:

I believe it is from the 8th level in the first episode. Along with that, is this:

This is from the 8th level of the second episode.

Wait ow do I set this up? Cause I'm confuzzed and forgot.

BTW, if this is for zdoom, would zdoom 1.22 work?
Title: Re: Feed Back Topic.
Post by: Replica on January 16, 2008, 09:25:23 PM
I think it'll work.

Go to Zdoom.org (http://Zdoom.org) and downloads. there should be a like for the ZDL file. wich is Zdoom luancher. Now download that. Open it. click options (under ZDL button) hit add in the left sectoin. then brouse for Zdoom/GZdoom. and then on the right hit add. and find Doomu (ChexQuest.wad) for the iwad. Now hit ok, and on to the main area. put your port to zdoom, upper right. now to the left. Brouse for Chex3.wad (hit add) and on the right click the Iwad listed. then luanch ;)

It says "Script Error 'MAP INFO' line 1, Bad syntax."

Very excellent WAD, my hat tips to you.

Full review to follow tomorrow or on the weekend.

Your wad is all screwed up. Some levels I can't even get to. I tried both GZDoom and the Zdoom 1.1.6 or whatever it was, but the game was messed up. I guess it's not me. I would've really wanted to play the game, though.
Title: Re: Feed Back Topic.
Post by: Replica on January 18, 2008, 07:51:43 PM
It says "Script Error 'MAP INFO' line 1, Bad syntax."

ARRRRRRRRRRG!!!!!!!! The most annoying error in history! I never had it in "Mapinfo" but in decorate. and honestly, Zdoom makes the error up! one day it says that. And the other day its fine :o :'( (Try redownloading the wad.)
The game has alot of Huge bugs. To be honest, i'm not sure how to fix Ultricus! I've fixed quadrumpas. And i'll fix the "Texure" soon.

@Loremaster, Thank you :D

Post by: The Slimeinator on January 18, 2008, 08:45:21 PM
Your problem with the Ultricus is simple. You just used the wrong rotation for the firing sprites. You just need to re-insert the sprites.
Title: Re: Feed Back Topic.
Post by: Replica on January 19, 2008, 12:51:52 AM
That isnot the problem. I used Strifes dehack patch, to use his Archonus flemoid. and i know little(That Boingo tought me) about it.
Title: Re: Feed Back Topic.
Post by: The Slimeinator on January 19, 2008, 12:56:10 AM
Hmmm.... It seems you are correct. This problem makes no logical sense! :o
Title: Re: Feed Back Topic.
Post by: Manny Cav on January 19, 2008, 01:22:35 AM
The patch that Strife used also altered the Cacodemon positions, so it's possible that Strife's patch is interfering with the operations of the Ultricus. Try removing Strife's part in the patch and then play your WAD to see if the problem with it goes away.

*bump* How is it going with altering the patch? Also, I tried to play it again today, and I got stuck on the first level! I got the door opened for the secret area that has a Rapid Zorcher and two Mini-zorcher packs. I snagged the items, but the door closed behind me, and I couldn't get out! ARGH!!! >:( Is that a deliberate roadblock, or poor level design?
Title: Re: Feed Back Topic.
Post by: Replica on April 14, 2008, 11:44:03 PM
lol, poor level design. I have many many many mistakes. You might as well wait untill the next release :-\. I desided not to alter the patch. Instead, i've put all errored creatures on to decorate. wich fixed that. I've fixed most errors, so if you'll like i'll release a fixed mod. Note E2M1 isn't done.

I think your aloud to bump pinned topics.

Edit = or you can ignore me.

I as well had the problem with the door in E1M1. i enjoyed your levels but there was one level( the forest one) that i found quite ANNOYING. any way whens the next realese

I honestly couldn't tell you. Would you guys like 5 maps into the next release, or the full episode?
Title: Re: Feed Back Topic.
Post by: Manny Cav on April 19, 2008, 10:02:24 AM
Are you suggesting deleting some of the levels that are in the current version, or do you mean just withholding some levels you have already made in preparation for another release?
Title: Re: Feed Back Topic.
Post by: Replica on April 19, 2008, 08:14:28 PM
I've only completed 3 and some what of another :-[. I"ve been mostly working on fixing errors, adding detail to my old maps. What I mean is do you want a sortened beta to oly 5 maps, or do you want the whole episode.
Title: Re: Feed Back Topic.
Post by: Manny Cav on April 19, 2008, 11:13:10 PM
Eh... I'd probably prefer the whole episode.
Title: Re: Feed Back Topic.

I concur.
Title: Re: Feed Back Topic.
Post by: Replica on April 20, 2008, 01:24:26 AM
Alright, I'll do my best to get it to you as fast as posible.
Title: Re: Feed Back Topic.
Post by: Pikazec2012 on April 20, 2008, 11:11:38 PM
hmm yes i would also say its better to have a whole episode BUT!!! dont "hurry" so much that you dont make good levels. id rather wait for 2 good levels than 100 horrible levels

In "The newest Beta! (http://chexquest.org/index.php?topic=17.0)", you say that the newest version of Chex Quest: Journey of Legends is Beta 4 and that it requires GZDoom, but in the readme file for the download here (http://files.filefront.com/CQJOLrar/;11132319;/fileinfo.html), you say that it is Beta 3 and that it requires ZDoom, not GZDoom. Which is it? Also, is this an IWAD now, or does it still require another IWAD? The older version (Beta 3, just so you know ;)) had a batch file that made knowing things like this real easy, as well as executing the game. I wish more mod makers included them with their mods....
Title: Re: Feed Back Topic.
Post by: Replica on July 20, 2008, 12:39:21 AM
lol, I forgot to edit the Readme text.

Sorry, I discluded the BAT file because it is easyer to use ZDL. (Zdoom's launcher).. but You need GZdoom, and Doomu. (AKA ChexQuest renamed doomu.wad...) to run it. Sorry guys. http://files.filefront.com/CQJOLbat/;11137317;/fileinfo.html (http://files.filefront.com/CQJOLbat/;11137317;/fileinfo.html) Here is the bat if needed. (I'm also going to post it in the new release topic).
Title: Re: Feed Back Topic.
Post by: Manny Cav on July 20, 2008, 12:43:37 AM
I actually find batch files a lot easier to use than the third party launcher for ZDoom, which is why I prefer them.

oh well, have fun playing it!

You guys may bump this topic to post feed back on if you like it.

I really havent noticed any bugs (minus the few I told you awhile ago), and havent been disatisfied with playing it. Its a great mod, I just wish it to go further.
Title: Re: Feed Back Topic.
Post by: Replica on August 10, 2008, 11:31:05 PM
Yeah! Some posted.... lol. Sorry, I'm alittle ticked. I think some members didn't like the first episode, so they thought they won't like the second. I have to say, E2 is alot better then E1, though It does get better as it goes. I thought E2M4 is better then M3, and M6 is better then M5, M7 is well I minor boss battle. then you battle the Cyber flemoid. So... yeah. :) Also E3 is going to be better then E2! And hopefully, I'll continue to get better, and maybe E4 will be great! (Sorry I've been overly hopefull... lol)
Title: Re: Feed Back Topic.
Post by: Atariangamer on August 11, 2008, 08:02:36 AM
No...thats how xbolt's Newmaps is going...IMO, E3 was better than all of them, and E4 is on GZDooM, so it will be even better...So you get better over time.
Title: Re: Feed Back Topic.
Post by: Replica on August 13, 2008, 02:32:49 PM
I can dream can't I? :D (Alittle off topic. I'm just reminding you, or see if you started E3M1?)
Title: Re: Feed Back Topic.
Post by: Replica on August 17, 2008, 06:58:14 PM
Just want to know, Would you guys play this mod if it was a zip file instead of a rar? Or is it to boring or something? Or just plain bad that no one (Besides atariangamer) could post that they even played it?

I like the level design, but the graphics... eh...

Sorry.
Title: Re: Feed Back Topic.
Post by: Replica on August 17, 2008, 07:10:25 PM
I'm working on fixing the Graphics.

Here are some new replacements.

Chaingunner
(http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/1127/cposa1ii3.png) (http://imageshack.us)
Calamus... well, not really a replacement but...
(http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/5793/calma1nf0.png) (http://imageshack.us)

That all I've done so far. But i'm still working on the others. :)
Title: Re: Feed Back Topic.
Post by: Manny Cav on August 17, 2008, 07:21:36 PM
Not bad. Your Flemoid design seems to be improving. I'm looking forward to seeing them in all of their angles.

EDIT: And, Replica, don't automatically assume that no one likes your mod just because your sub-forum is a little low on traffic. I've said this a zillion times, and I'l say it again: people have life to deal with, where they can't play mods and stuff, or sometimes, they just don't have anything constructive to say.
Title: Re: Feed Back Topic.
Post by: Replica on August 17, 2008, 08:02:55 PM
The angles are the hardest part for me. I can do the *1 *5 and 3*7. but the other it are the hardest.

Sorry about that. I was getting overly angry at XWE because I made a new texture and it messed up my whole Texture lump. :( I guess the fact that it's been a month and no feeback is what set me off. owell. :(

Here's the fatnoid. (Needs a new name.)

(http://img364.imageshack.us/img364/4027/fatta1xv1.png) (http://imageshack.us)

IT's really hard to make flemish because of its color
Title: Re: Feed Back Topic.
Post by: ChexCommander on August 18, 2008, 12:57:41 PM
I like the Calamus, actually! Good job, no matter what people say about your spriting ability.

And the "Fatnoid" has rather nice colors, to differ from just green flem, nice!

Mabey a bit of work on the Chaingunner would help...

And do you know that Flemish is actually a type of people from Flanders, in Belgium?
Title: Re: Feed Back Topic.
Post by: Atariangamer on August 18, 2008, 09:39:16 PM
...random.

Wow, Replica! you seriously got the style down...not that far from being a great sprite!
The fatnoid...has weird looking arms...are they curvy or straight? :D

Thanks guys. Yeah I need to fix the chaingunner. lol at the Flanders, in Belgium coment.

@Atariangamer, they we're supposed to be strait... lol, that need fixing.
Title: Re: Feed Back Topic.
Post by: Atariangamer on August 18, 2008, 11:12:24 PM
that it do, replica! lol

But having a slight curve in his arms would make sense for the shading like that, and it makes no sense to have straight arms on a thing of flem...
Title: Re: Feed Back Topic.
Post by: Replica on August 19, 2008, 12:41:44 AM
True... so you think I should change it?
Title: Re: Feed Back Topic.
Post by: Atariangamer on August 19, 2008, 08:32:09 AM
ATM, the arms are dead straight, but have shading that suggests curving. I'm saying that either remove the shading and have straight arms, or shave off some of the arms to make it slighly wavy (like other flemoids).

CRUD!

I just relized that no one actually beat the game. (Yes I said this before but I have proof.)

A switch in E2M6 near the end is activated by a walk through, not a click. So its imposible to get the Purple key. :(
Cheers to Ataraingamer for beating it though. :)
Title: Re: Feed Back Topic.

Hm, yes, I think I noticed that when I played it.

I just randomly went to E2 for the heck of it today

nice work, I liked E2M6 a lot.

That two armed floating flemoid is a very good sprite, one of your best for sure

EDIT: I mirrored CQ: JOL on my site

http://ifocserv.net/ftp/wads/CQJOL.wad

Unfortunately it seems to be quite broken in (G)zDoom now, here's my attempt at a fix, though there are still major issues:

... Two armed floating flemoid? You mean the Flemoidus Tencialis? As much as I would like to take credit, I didn't make it. :/ Thank you for your complements on the maps tough. :) E2M6 was the best map I've made I think. :)

Hey, was that the replacement for the thing that shot out Lost Souls?
Title: Re: Feed Back Topic.
Post by: Replica on March 24, 2009, 09:34:22 AM
That's what Manny used it for, but in JOL, it was just another Caco. (Which was changed by the way.)
