Title: Level Submissions
Post by: TrueDude on February 26, 2013, 11:57:53 PM
Is it alright if I submit the redone maps of Chex Quest 2.5 (http://www.mediafire.com/?ob2zufpld6hctdf) (aka the old Chex Quest 3 maps ported to the new Chex Quest 3) for this mod as co-op maps? I mean, they're technically not really my maps to begin with, since, well, the originals were taken from other Doom mods and all. I'm done with them, but I suppose you could further modify or bug test them if it's needed.

I like some of these maps, but I can't put them in my mod with a good conscience knowing that what I'm doing is just as bad as taking MAP01 out of TNT, converting it to Chex, and calling it mine.

I occasionally try to make a map that has a similar feeling to another map (like Villa Duel / SSL2 or Consilium/Uroborous) but they are drawn from scratch, and are always my own interpretation, my attempt at taking what I like of the original and making it better.

These maps were made by Team TNT; even though QG was able to get permission to use their music, taking their maps is going too far, and I doubt they would even agree to the idea.

Actually, it wasn't made by Team TNT, but I get what you mean. Maybe we could ask the person who originally made them if it's alright to use them or not?

I'd consider it more if you got permission.

EDIT:

Though, I'm not sure of the texture source; and I'd likely just release this as an addon wad.

Stolen Chex 3 or any incarnation of it just feels like it should be its own wad, I'd recommend you just finish your project on your own.

Well, it IS finished, that's why I was submitting what I had done as an extra episode. Though yeah, I suppose it could do without those few remaining textures, they could easily be replaced.

ZM01 was actually sort of inspired by Goldeneye layouts.

I'm not planning on working on more PvP maps or accepting submissions though. I'll lock this topic.
