This topic contains most of the new stuff in The New Chex Quest: Generation Two. Emphasis on most. ;)

This list shall be updated. Frequently. So check often.


New Zorchers


The Liquid Zorcher

(http://www.picattic.com/files/mmfw8ne0lqcavz1p9clp.bmp) If you think you've seen powerful Zorchers before, then get ready for this Zorcher!!! It fires a sequence of three attacks. The first attack is a hitscan attack that is based off of the "Tomed" Dragon Claw attack from Heretic. Three attacks are fired, in the manner that a Disciple of D'Sparil would fire its attack. The second attack is a set of two balls of gaseous Zorch that, when they impact, cause a rain of liquid zorch to descend from the ceiling! The final, and most devastating, attack generates two balls of zorch that are based off of the "Tomed Mace Spheres of DEATH!" They kill everything except for the major bosses (e. g. Ultimus, Alpha Teleportus, Dekarhinus etc...) in one hit! They bounce around, but can't jump into the air. In between the two bouncing balls of Zorch is a projectile that is highly destructive. It quickly multiplies, and rips through all of the enemies it comes into contact with! Each sequence costs exactly 60 Liquid Zorch Ammo (which comes in canisters). But wait! There's more! I've coded an AltFire state into it, so if you use the Alternate Fire button, an attack is unleashed that would shame the LAZ Device. You ready? No? Too bad! It fires a spray of zorch so powerful that it can take out an Ultimus in one blow at close range. What's the catch, you say? Each Alternate Fire attack costs 200 Liquid Zorch ammo! Heck, it's worth it to have one less Ultimus in your life! You must collect all three pieces (The handle, barrel, and body) to use the Liquid Zorcher.

The Beam Zorcher

(http://www.picattic.com/files/4bgv7tdtjtb0c67d2t0g.bmp) Finally, here it is! A Railgun Zorcher! It consumed 20 Phasing Zorch ammo per shot, and requires special gloves to wield.

The Seeker Zorcher

(http://www.picattic.com/files/p9xmagls30brs7e9q0o0.bmp) This Zorcher fires a super-powerful seeking Propulsor shot! It has an increased "Blast" damage and radius, so it is even less recommendable in close combat than the Zorch Propulsor.

The Chain Zorcher

(http://www.picattic.com/files/2a76sb2j3exzze3amgd1.bmp) The Chain Zorcher is just like the Rapid Zorcher... with twice the firing rate! It also requires some cool-down time after you finish unleashing its fury.

New Flemoids (Oh boy!)


The Elite Cycloptis

(http://www.picattic.com/files/rtia7lfyf2ftlidiwlyp.bmp) This flying horror is a Cycloptis with an upgraded suit. Its attack consists of three slime balls fired in angular directions. It inherits many behaviours from the Disciple of D'Sparil (Heretic).

The Evolved Cycloptis

(http://www.picattic.com/files/9cw7q7mq0hv7kebe8lp4.bmp) This guy dwarfs the Elite Cycloptis. Half of the time, it fires a huge spread of Flem particles. The other half of the time, he fires three Chex-seeking slime balls in a row that consist of slime that grows on the target for a moment or two. A master of chivalry, it tends to give a weapon to the victor. You can submit a name for this Flemoid via the PM system. Use your computer. It's the best way to use it!

The Evolved Ultricus

(http://www.picattic.com/files/6htvowh9sd52eq4hkclg.bmp) This Flemoid has bad news written all over it. It fires a few streams of red slime balls, one occasionally bigger than the rest. When you see the big slime ball, look out! It uses Liquid Zorch to draw slime from the Flemoid's dimension, so it occasionally leaves you some Liquid Zorch. You can suggest a name for this Flemoid by PMing me.

Flemoidus Perforatus

(http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj142/slimeinator/GATTA1.jpg) The Flemoidus Perforatus is similar to the Flemoidus Gattlingus, except it has higher HP, speed, and a slightly higher firing rate. This Flemoid also has a smaller Pain Chance, so expect it to not stop firing. Its "big brother" is the Evolved Flemoidus Perforatus. Kudos for Manny for making the sprite set.

Evolved Flemoidus Perforatus

(http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj142/slimeinator/GAT2B1.jpg) This dude is a heavy-duty assault Flemoid. He comes equipped with slightly more HP than a Sputum. He pumps out two continous streams of red slime balls, at a rate even GREATER than the Sputum, so make sure you have something to hide behind if you're taking on a group of them! He also has a pain chance that is less than that of a Sputum and a greater speed than a Sputum. You can suggest a name for this Flemoid by sending me a message.

New Powerups


The (Super)Zorchsphere

(http://www.picattic.com/files/f4ot6by70s1093eu1yjk.bmp) The Zorchsphere quadruples all damage you do for a limited time. The Super Zorchsphere multiplies all the damage you do by eight. However, it only lasts for half of the Zorchsphere's time.

The Ultimate Chex Armor

(http://www.picattic.com/files/abuytp5zhx3rg6lcgmwc.bmp) The Ultimate Chex Armor grants the wearer with the power of quartering all damage that is done to him or her for a limited time.

The Jet Boots

(http://www.picattic.com/files/ukvisss8w2ctfez0qgqk.bmp) The Jet Boots give you (the Chex Warrior) the ability to FLY! And, it gives you a speed boost to go with it! It works for about as long as the Zorchsphere.

The High Jump Boots

(http://www.picattic.com/files/u081eff7vd4qx4jlivlq.bmp) The High Jump Boots, once you equip them, double the height of all of your jumps for the rest of the current level! Be sure to check out secrets etc.

The Zorch Pod

(http://www.picattic.com/files2/yj09holahzqztqyw8zwg.bmp) This pod full of electric Zorch energy will zorch away all the slime you have on your suit! It only lasts a certain amount of time, though.

Miscellaneous

Glass of Orange Juice

(http://www.picattic.com/files2/3q6z15nmpzz2gql84k12.bmp) When you drink a nutritious glass of Orange Juice, you gain a +2 Health Bonus that can extend up to 250 health!

Max Slime Repellant

(http://www.picattic.com/files2/gqn0bs0yoal0wb8acmad.bmp) This is a super-powerful Slime Repellant. It gives +2 Super Chex Armor, up to 250 armor.

Perimeter Defense Turret

(http://www.picattic.com/files2/h5w6muhj3ulya90d05bv.bmp) These turrets can be a real help, so when you find the switch that powers them up, flip it. There are two varieties. One variety fires a hitscan attack and can take more slime. The other variety fires two powerful balls of Zorch, but it can't absorb as much slime as its hitscan cousin.

Shadow Chex Armor

(http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj142/slimeinator/SHDWA0.jpg) This sucker is probably the best armor that the Intergalactic Federation of Cereals' research department has ever come up with! It protects against almost all of the damage you take until it runs out, AND it renders you semi-invisible for a short period of time! Those scientists really HAVE done it now!

New Skill Difficulty!

This challenging skill difficulty inherits all of the properties from Super Slimey. However, you get triple ammo from pickups. That's the only good thing. Hmm. I see where the powerups came from (Skulltag, I think...). and you play Heretic and Hexen alot, apparently...

FINALLY, A rail zorcher! But, whats with the gloves? It goes forwards...right?
That first one is a mashup, but is unique overall. Parts? that'll be interesting...and hard.
seekers...I like those! But, how fast will it travel/seek?
chainzorcher...like a minigun? I'd love a zorching minigun.

I like and approve...but will prolly slam you after playing so, I'm not gonna say nothing. (locks mouth)

Anyway, the Beam Zorcher outputs a disruptive energy that requires special gloves to handle, as with the Seeker Zorcher. The Chain Zorcher is based off of the Skulltag minigun, but the Zorchsphere and the Ultimate Chex Armor? I wrote the code myself. The sprites for the Liquid Zorcher were taken from the 99weapons mod and recolored. The seeker Propulsor shot travels at the same rate as the regular Propulsor shot, with very aggressive tracking abilities.

Finally, YOU CAN'T PLAY TOO MUCH HERETIC/HEXEN! >:( :D

Oh. I was just saying...Skulltag has those 'runes' that do stuff. One of them acts kinda like the UCA, but oh well, if you didn't know about them, you obviously wrote it yourself...

Wait, I've played the 99weapons...what wad is it?

Good, some go slow with exclent tracking, some too fast with poor tracking. Aggressive tracking is the best and unaltered speed is good.

I would slam you because I can't beat it. To this day, haven't gotten through with out an IDDQD at one point in time...still can't get past MAP29...

Well, the new weapons will make it more beat-able.

Hmmm... I coulda sworn it was 99weapons...

It was a mod that replaced the fist and the chainsaw with two weapons using the Liquid Zorcher Sprites. One was green and one was blue.

In response to "ive been through it more time that you can think of..." I said "I'd believe it..." and also asked if you had the fix to make it work in the latest GZDooM...It doesn't work in GZDooM, but a guide was released saying here's how...it didn't work for me...

I like the classic levels you put in.
Map 33 was hard it reminded me a littlle of my e1m8 part.

That MAP33 was inspired by Hell Revealed II's MAP31, "The Descent II". I spent hours coding all of the spawners... Then, I had to get all of the delays correct etc. etc...

It was a weapons mod, but it wasn't 99weap or the Weapons Resource WAD. I had it a while ago. It replaced the fist and the chainsaw with sprites similar to the Liquid Zorcher.

Eh... I like the older design (of your new Flemoid) better. With the newer one, it looks like the arm is pointing downward, but the barrel is still clearly frontal, making the barrel look like it was placed in an odd location.

Eee... the 3rd one looks a little plain and less upgraded that the first one you posted. My favorite of the 3 is the first one (unless I could see it in the same frame that the last two are set in, then I might change my mind).

Let me make this perfectly clear. The first one is NOT a moving frame. It is a firing frame. I thought the third version which I had already envisioned would be a little plain, so I put on the black "arm cannon" thing on the second one. The first image is going to be included in the sprite set.

Hoo-ray! I finished all of the walking frames!!!!! Now I'll finish the firing frames, the "Pain" frames, and then the "Death" frames. I have no more sprites to go! It's FINISHED!!!!!

Looks nice. but also, could you say the DooM names of said creatures? I still cant get all the names right...

I'm guessing this is a Lost Soul. if so. maybe round off his pod some more? it looks a bit lumpy from here...

Also, could we just have a flem thing on the front? or change the behavior to get right up in your face (like the lost soul does) but not hurt you by ramming...makes no sense, as most stuff doesn't hurt you, just slime.

Hmm...IDK, I'd like it.

The Gyro's fine. What I think would separate it more from the Cycloptus is if you made the one slime thing it has spin around all the time. That would be kind of cool. And, technically speaking, I don't think there would be anything wrong with it just ramming you, because it will still look like it's slimming you if you use the main attack sprites from the Cycloptus for the Gyro's attack sequence.

Since there are only two moving rotations for the Lost Soul, it would not be much of a "spin". Besides, it is unmanagable for the side frames. When the Gyro is attacking, the center thingy will open. I don't think it would be very realistic if slime spewed out of the center if it doesn't fire a projectile.

When the Gyro is attacking, the center thingy will open. I don't think it would be very realistic if slime spewed out of the center if it doesn't fire a projectile.

But the spinning thing was my point too...if it acts the same, put something there to make ramming make sense.

I looked at them, but none of the attack sprites actually depict the Flemoid firing any slime, but just opening the "arm" without firing anything, so the ramming still doesn't seem to make as much sense.

With the slime thing open when it is rushing at you, when it impacts you the slime will transfer itself onto you.

Map editor? No, Manny was "trying to find the exit" when he stumbled upon a few secrets along the way.  We happened to pick up some Liquid Zorch Canisters, and there was also some kind of slime in that secret room, that killed us half the time.

By eerie, I mean, liquid zorch ammo + no liquid zorcher = odd.

They're actually seperate weapons, defined as SIGIL1-SIGIL5. SIGIL5 automatically gives you all the "pieces."

If you haven't already noticed, these new sprites were based off of Charles Jacobi's concept design of the Phasing Zorcher. I obtained his permission to color the sketches and turn them into sprites. I also defined a new ammo type for the Beam Zorcher, but for that you'll have to wait until the next release. ;)

Nice work! OOH! I didn't notice the tubes glowing...awesome.

Also, any chance on cleaning up from a sprite to something like the Liquid Zorcher looks like? Cuz not to be bad or anything, but that looks kinda severly contrasting...like I picked up a piece of paper that shoots beams! lol

Man, we need to get a WepsMod from some of these sprites...

See, I'm planning on making full sprites from that sprite and one or two others for Chex Quest Arena. I don't know if I will be successful or not, but I'm just telling you that a full sprite set from yours truly is not out of the question.

I'm using PhotoShop. I got in touch with Charles Jacobi, and he also recommended to shade it a little more. I've added dimension to the zorcher, and now I just need to add a little shading to the forward end. However, you must play my next release to get the better graphics.

PREPARE YE FOR THE TUTORIAL!

Step one: Download the latest IWAD and Expansion Pack.

Step two a.: This is one method to run it. Place the IWAD (not renamed), the Expansion Pack, and the .bat file that came with the Expansion Pack into your GZDooM folder. Run the .bat file.

Step two b.: This is another method. Rename the IWAD to Doom2, or something of that persuasion, and drag + drop the Expansion Pack WAD file onto your GZDooM .exe. Select the appropriate WAD file to run it.

Step three: Enjoy!

For gameplay: unlimited ammo, 3rd difficulty
for overall: no cheats, 4th difficulty

Umm...On the GZDooM website, there is a pack of cfgs...grabem. The standard use is Doom in Hexen format as it gives more control on activation...but if you're new to editing, you might wanna check the Doom in Doom format out first...

Well, I had gotten a wad with a good bit of DECORATE, and was trying to make a map with said DECORATE'd items. I loaded it up in *SOME* cfg that was with DooM Builder, and there was a section on the Objects list named DECORATE that held the created objects. It wasnt a custom config...

IDK. But I would like your cfg file...but hold onto it till we get TNCQ:G2 running right in Skulltag

After playing around with the liquid zorcher today (that thing is sweet) I had an idea for the All-Powerful-Zorcher.
It's kinda this big Sphere that when you shoot, it coats the floor, ceiling, and walls with zorch, zorching every flemoid in the room. I'll try and draw my idea of it.

Hey Slime! Just had an awesome idea for another weapon...Its a zorch boomarang...kinda. Its a boomarang, blade, something thats been filled to the brim with the neverending zorch mineral they found just yesterday in the caverns. What it does is flys toward the nearest target, does 200 damage to him, then goes to the next and does another 200, flies to another for 200, then goes to another and explodes. It will be awesome.

Also, a cube of souls throwing bleeding discs? No! Download the D3 Weapons pack...its got this weapon, which is a cube with a small blade spinning around it that floats in front of you, then you push it off, it seeks enemes, then comes back when they all have 0 health. Only good for one room, tho...then you gotta fire it again.

Actually, Slime...I was looking at DooM 2, freedoom, and this...both freedoom and this require you to have to shoot early to land the rocket on dead target. Doom 2 is the only one that makes its plaform level. But I cant remember if it was you, or TNT...that actually gave you only just enough room for the rocket to slip through.

TNT. I copied the original design of the Icon of Sin directly from the TNCQG2 IWAD and then extended the platform inside to prevent the trick that allows you to look down and fire.

In the original, there was no looking down...it was straight on. also, it is near impossible to shoot it unless you're level with it, but since you're talking about looking down and firing, i'm guessing you're not level...this means you have to perfectly time the rocket as you're moving up with the platform...unless you can fly. But, if you cant fly, then you have to keep going up and down trying to hit it (FreeDooM does this...and its near impossible. You go up fast, and you go down fast, no time to turn around and try to time it.

What it does is flys toward the nearest target, does 200 damage to him, then goes to the next and does another 200, flies to another for 200, then goes to another and explodes. It will be awesome.

I shall now perform the Dance of the Zorcher that will Not Be In this Mod, but Will Be in Chex Quest: Generation Two.

Seriously, though. I plan on CQ: Generation 2 and TNCQ: Generation 2 each having a different set of custom Zorchers. The Zorcherang will go in Generation Two, as will the Mobile Omni-Attack Zorcher (If I feel like it).

This is how the Zorcherang would work:

I would add the +SEEKERMISSILE flag and the +RIPPER flag to the projectiles, to make them behave kinda like the Bloodscourge projectiles. I then would code the projectile to live a certain amount of time before breaking in midair. You can carry up to 10 Zorcherangs, even with the Zorchpack. Once you throw a Zorcherang, it would go around the room and pierce all the Flemoids, instantly zorching anything with less health than a Maximus.

By the way, LAZ Trooper, that looks like a good base for a MOAZ Zorcher recharge. I shall use it and you both get a gold star:

Thou only hast one gold star, that I know of. Unless I gave you one without a fancy picture long ago...

Anyway, I'm about to start working on the Zorcherang sprites. Each end of the 'rang is the zorch red, and it has a ring of rotating zorch while it is in flight. While you hold it, rings of zorch go up the length of the sprite and terminate at the end.

IDK, but I'm wondering, did you ever use that? a sniper zorcher (not a railgun, a true rifle zorcher) would be awesome.

I think I'm just going to attach the sniper scope to the Beam Zorcher, 'cuz it's more precise than even a Sniper Zorcher.

Alright, cool! I already did some work on the brick, so the .png won't be necessary. ;)

However, I am inadequate at drawing any part of the Chex Warrior. :( As such, I will probably shave the part with the purple off, if I find time to make a sprite set.

Little progress update for you guys.

I just added the Shadow Chex Armor to the list, which not only does the "cloaking device" thing, but it also gives you a new type of armor. It is VERY secret and hard to find, so you'll have to look pretty hard to find it!

Two of them will appear in this mod, while all four will appear in CQ: Generation Two. The code of the new Flemoids differs from the Chex Quest 3. For example, the Flemoid Mine follows you around while it flies.

IMO, It would be awesome to do a rocket level...Like have the room be a tall tower, and have it shift and stuff acording to its orbit...then when you get to the capsule on top, the bottom falls away under your feet, and if you didn't hit the ladder...you fall through the flemoid atmosphere and get slimed up! O_O AWESOMENESS! I got rights on that idea!
