----------------

Hey guys,

My name's Justin Silverman (Twitter: @JustySilverman), you might know me from random YouTube stuff I've done over the past decade or my work with the TooManyGames convention. But, more recently, I have been producing videos for Cinemassacre. Mainly the Angry Video Game Nerd and the weekly Rental Reviews show.

For about six months now, we've been coming up with ideas for a Chex Quest episode of AVGN. Our editor Kieran (Twitter: @Kieeeeern) has been playing Chex Quest for months... the DOS game, the HD mod stuff, the Brutal Doom mods, everything really. So, we finally came up with a fleshed out concept... history, review, funny skit, etc... and, thankfully, it looks like Chex themselves is talking about the game again. We saw the website and documentary that just came out too. Really awesome for you guys.

That said, we need help.

I've scoured eBay and Amazon... NintendoAge... conventions. I cannot find the actual, physical cereal box.
We need it for the episode.

Even the mighty John Riggs & LGR couldn't find anyone.... everyone is really protective of their boxes. Which, makes sense.
But, considering they pressed 6 million CDs... shouldn't there by 6 million boxes?? Sure, a lot were trashed.

If anyone can send me a proper, original Chex Quest cereal box and game CD it would really help us out.
We're filming June 7th, 2019.

We will pay for shipping/your time and will send it back undamaged.
Could even ruin it with a James Rolfe signature if you want... haha.
You'd definitely get credit in the episode though.

Please DM me on Twitter if you can (@JustySilverman,) or leave a comment here, maybe email me.

Off topic, we actually have a 3D printed Zoorcher, so, that's cool... gonna be a fun episode.

Thanks!!

~Justin Silverman

Forgot to mention! Sorry for the bump.

We're also looking for high res scans of the original box as well.

AVGN!!

Unfortunately, I do not have a box. It's quite rare to see one pop up on ebay. A while ago someone did manage to get their hands on one, and took some pics: https://imgur.com/a/37koe

Hi there, I have the CD but unfortunately I didn't keep the box. Do you need a CD?

EDIT: You may want to try contacting Dean Hyers, it looks like there's one in the background of this video; don't know if he'll ship it though:

WELL, considering it's AVGN... I really doubt it.

The cursing, gore, poop and fart jokes don't usually win professionals over.

True, good point.

There are scans of parts of the box available, maybe Kinkos or something could print out the box shape on lightweight cardboard and it could be cut out and folded to look like the original?

The only thing is, they're only partial scans; I could probably photoshop something that looked fairly realistic if you guys want though. What do you think?

EDIT: I found more pictures (http://nintendoage.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=6&threadid=121746) and tried a perspective transform to correct for the camera not being perpendicular to the box when the pictures were taken but there's some baked in specular reflection that might be pretty hard to fix, does this help?

EDIT 2: Higher res (huge images, click the links)

I don't know if this will be helpful.  It is not high res.

It is a photo of a Chex box with the ad for the game I found on the net a few years back.

Welcome to the forum, Justin! I've been a fan of AVGN since the Gametrailers days, and I really enjoy the Rental Reviews series as well. Unfortunately, odds of finding a cereal box are pretty long, since those of us who played it when it came out were mostly just kids, and as Nintendo fans know kids tend to throw away the "worthless" cardboard wrapping the game came in.

I did find a website with a large number of graphics for the game's box: https://gamesdb.launchbox-app.com/games/images/5881 (https://gamesdb.launchbox-app.com/games/images/5881)

Don't know if that will help, but unfortunately, unless someone pops up who has a box stashed away somewhere, I don't think you'll be able to find one on that short of notice. Only other possibility I can think of is maybe Chukker might have one, but again, quite the long shot.

Random side note, but you're filming on my birthday! Good luck, and I'm looking forward to the episode!

Justin.  Are you aware that Charles Jacobi, artist from the original CQ,  has been working on a new version of CQ with proper 3D models in HD, and that this new version is getting close to release?

Yes, I am.

That's one of the reasons we're doing it, a little love letter to the game before it gets remastered.

However, there will be a lot of crapping on it as well, and some funny stuff... as it's AVGN.

Regardless, filming next week, no box yet. :-(

Also, xbolt has a gallery with some box scans, as well as a bunch of additional graphics resources from the marketing campaign.

http://gallery.xboltz.net/downloads/ (http://gallery.xboltz.net/downloads/)

Beyond that, I'm reaching out to a couple of LONG shots for the box, but really no promises. They are VERY LONG odds on still being contactable, or even still having the box.

Best bet would be to make a repro box, though I know that is hardly ideal. Last one on ebay sold for $91 USD back in March it looks like, and it was folded flat.

Yes. I ended up just printing my own boxes. Using some photoshopping and vinyl prints.

It'll be on the channel in late June. :lolwut

Yes, the Chex Quest box is every side. Just showed the front to compare new vs old.

I won't show you the special one we printed... that the episode ends with.  :-X

Wow.

The new box design is boring.

Your printed box looks great!
