Asteroid has a near miss with Earth
« on: January 29, 2008, 07:48:20 PM »
At roughly 3:30 this morning (EST), Asteroid 2007 TU24 passed within 1.4 times the lunar distance from the Earth.

Hopefully, NASA will have some good pictures of it to show to us soon.

I heard that there was practically a zero percent chance of a collision. I didn't have any tools to view it, sadly. I would like to have something with which I could view this sort of thing.

Y'know, having learned of SO MANY ways that Earth can be destroyed [Asteroid, rogue black hole, nuclear war, comet strike, and gamma ray burst just to name a few], I figure why worry?

Still, some photos would be nifty. Please post if they put some up.
Did we really just spend the last decade talking about Chex Quest? Yes. Yes we did.

I regret nothing!

In 2037, an asteroid dubbed "Apophis" has an incredibly high probability of impact (for an asteroid) slightly south of Oregon.
Sometimes you've got to go where everybody knows your name.

O_o Methinks there might go rushnerd...if he decides to move slightly south...
Dude, I have no plans of going away from the east coast, and even fewer plans of leaving the southeast...
