Actually, isn't Spore described as a creature creator? From what I've seen, it's surely not limited to your run-of-the-mill farm animals. You're meant to create whatever you want to, limited only by the engine itself.

that's interesting, but he would have done better to make the "nose" actually be a leg coming off of the head, then remove the foot, and instead add one of those seed-shooter things, then at least it would shoot stuff
