Oh! And what's confusing ya, Atarian?

12me91: Ur doin it rong. It would be more of "Nice job, now maybe some new members will actually live. ~desu".

In response to that, I was wondering where all the members were going...

Isn't "desu" a Japanese word meaning something along the lines of "to be" ? As in "Hajimemashite. Syaoran desu. Dozo yoroshiku." (How do you do. I am Syaoran. Pleased to meet you.)

So how is it used here?

(to any Japanese individuals reading this, I apologize if I butchered your language. I'm just a student.)

The character Suiseiseki from Rozen Maiden ends many of her sentences with ~desu. It's become a meme, though not used much around here lately. ~desu

Ask Kuwabara and Allen for more info, or Loremaster, our leading resource on these types of things, when he's around.

You just offended him by spelling his name wrong.

Well, I believe his name is more like Xiaoxian, but the Japanese katakana-ized it as "Syaoran".

Ahem. The Japanese have a system for writing designed as essentially a pronunciation guide for foreign names called Katakana. Katakana however, is still limited by the sounds in the Japanese language. Thus, not being able to say "Xiaoxian", they wrote it as something that sounds very similar, "Syaoran".
