How do you get IDEse I cant find it!!!! ARGH

My skulltag came with DoomSeeker and I downloaded IDE but that's not it!! Cant find the server!

Don't bother. DoomSeeker is the successor to IDEse, as it loads servers much faster. IDEse was outdated.

heh oops...

No worries. IDEse still works as long as you're using 98a. ;)

The Server is down at the moment. But on occasion there are multiplayer mod tests.

Speaking of Mumble, I need to get configured for that for Skulltag.

If you show me how, or give me some kind of information page on it, I'll be glad to put it in   ;)

(Only if it doesn't slow down the game)

Well you host it separately, so...

I'm hosting one 24/7. Been trying to ask Brain Candy how to set it up.

You can get it down to 18kbps of audio, so its really low latency even when transmitting.

Problem being it doesn't like to use the DNS I set up.
EDIT: Just tested it again, it does work.

Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

So when you get Mumble installed, just start it up, and you'll get a server list. Click Add New, and put in any label you like, enter the address, default port, and a username.

When you get on, right click and register yourself. That allows you to make temporary rooms that aren't in the main area, useful for stuff like Skulltag matches or otherwise. It also links positional audio to some games (currently there isn't one for Doom/Skulltag :'(), so its useful for much more than just basic chat.

You can go into the audio settings and set your bitrate and packet size, and with large packets and low bitrates, you can get it very low. And thanks to the codec, it still sounds decent (Better than the original Counter-Strike's ><). I can host several people with no lag, and the less lag the ST server has to deal with, the better it is for the gamers.

I'll try to ask Brain Candy once again about permanent rooms.

UPDATE: Got permanent rooms that are free to join by everyone.

Left 4 Dead is there, Minecraft is there, and Skulltag is there.

There are 3 sub-channels in the Skulltag channel: Blue Team, Deathmatch, and Red Team.

Deathmatch is for all free-for-all games, and the team channels are for...team games.

If you register yourself (right click on your user and hit register), you can create channels and subchannels TEMPORARILY. That is, when they empty, they disappear. Useful for things that require a new channel real quick when I'm not on.

My computer now almost never goes down during normal hours, so feel free to join any time.

double post for information clarity:

I run a mostly 24/7 Mumble server. I run 1.2.3, so make sure when you go to the Mumble Sourceforge site, make sure you get 1.2.3 and not anything else.

My server has channels and sub-channels for Left 4 Dead gaming, my Minecraft server, as well as Skulltag. Skulltag has sub-channels for Blue/Red teams, and Deathmatch.

To connect, just install and start Mumble 1.2.3 Client, and you'll be presented with a server list. Simply click the 'Add New' button at the bottom and fill out the information.

-The Label can be anything. It will show up in your favorites on the top of the list, so call it whatever you like.
-The address is
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.
or if that doesn't work, PM me for the IP address.
-The port is the default one: 64738
-The username is...whatever you'd like to be your username.

You'll only need to put in the username once. After you join, go to the 'Self' menu (up top), and select register. This registers the server's certificate, your name, and information with you and the server, allowing you to join without having to put in a username each time.
Registering also allows you to create temporary rooms for the organization of another game, or an extra team.

Now, if it hasn't already, the Audio Wizard will come up and try to set your audio settings up. If it hasn't, select it from under the 'Configure' menu. It will help you get the input, output, and mic handling of your setup working. The best option is Push To Talk, though if you have a better mic and a quieter environment, VOX (voice operated transmission) or Voice Activity might be your best bet. I discourage the use of Continuous transmission for the fact of background noise, interruptions, and latency issues. The more people transmitting at one time, the more the server has to deal with, and the laggier it gets. Push to talk keeps your transmissions clear, concise, and small.

After that, just join a channel and start talking!

I have comments of information on each channel, though alot is common sense. However, the root has a comment with some rules.

1. Try not to swear.
2. Keep talk clean.
3. Don't join a room you're not playing in.

That last one is major, for me at least.

If you're not playing Minecraft, don't join Minecraft. If you're not playing Skulltag, don't join Skulltag. However, if you're thinking about and/or in the process of joining the Skulltag server, join to see what they're doing, but not for idle chat. Please.

I've also noticed that we sometimes have more than one ST server, so if that becomes a problem, just let me know, and I'll make 2 identical subchannels for each server.

Edit reason: 1.2.3 isn't RC anymore, its stable. Whoops...

Actually they just released 1.2.3 a couple days ago, so it'll work either way now. ;)
