This is so not a helpful suggestion, but I am completely blown away by Alienware's "Netbook" offering:
http://www.alienware.com/microsite/m11x/m11x.aspx
http://gizmodo.com/5442711/dell-alienware-m11x-is-their-first-ultraportable-gaming-netbook

And really, this thing is the polar opposite of a netbook, but it is so tiny! I'm not a fan of Alienware/Dell, but holy heck.  :o

That "netbook" (well, not really) is ridiculous! That's an intense mini-laptop.

If you're trying to have a baby, I would highly recommend keeping that mini-beast off of your lap.  O_O

New netbook is officially awesome, able to run TF2 at native res of 1366x768 at 25-30 fps, and portal same res at 35-45 fps.  Albeit, with the advanced settings brought down a good bit.  fps did go down to the 15-20 range, but for that I needed to do a point blank rocket or look point blank into a portal.

That's so great to hear! I'm way excited for you. I missed the boat when netbooks went from ridiculously underpowered to offering some really great budget/ultraportable options. Totally neat. You should post some pictures if you can. I'd love to see this things actual size.

Yeah, I had to share... even though it was not even remotely helpful to TMOB. XD

Isn't it neat though? I'd totally buy one despite the Dell/Alienware crappiness of it.

I had a good laugh over this. This netbook would cook the contents of anyones abdomen. Render people sterile, lol.

My HP Mini 1000 gets surprisingly hot as is.  I just can't imagine that Alienware.

may have to back down a bit, I'm having some trouble playing tf2 multiplayer, the test was own my own server, it seems that it isn't the fault of the graphics but of the processer having problems keeping up with everything. :-\

You using the multicore rendering?

not to mention, there are tons of FPS configs (low poly models, console commands, DX8, etc) to help out.

linkys?

never tried it, but does the multicore rendiring actually increase performance?

the problem seems to be trying to do many things at once, as it stuggled playing an rts as well, but has no problems with portal

Then start a new topic. Or put it in the unique forum access topic. Wrong place dude.

Ummm...did you read the name of the topic? TMOB was getting a netbook, so I posted from a netbook.

Well, the thread was last posted in 4 years ago. Generally, you should leave threads that old alone. (Exceptions exist, of course.)

Exactly. Not only was the post only semi-relevant, but it was no where near close time-wise to the last post. It definitely should have been a new topic, if it warranted a post at all. (Or, like I said, there IS the unique forum access post which is still relevant time-wise)
