I'm waiting on college to actually getting anyone who could qualify as a girlfriend.  I live in Puerto Rico (for 90% of my life), and plan to go to college in Greenville, South Carolina (Bob Jones University).  So, even if I did have a girlfriend back home, I probably wouldn't see her for several years when it came down to going to college.  Also, being second language Spanish, with all natives of PR being very Spanish, I would look weird.  A blond-haired, steel-blue eyed computer geek (referring to Loremaster's definitions) amidst a culture full of dark-haired, dark-eyed people looks sort of strange as it is.  I've had restaurant waitresses leave my father (looks the same as me) standing without waiting on him, then making him wait several minutes for an English-speaking employee to wait on him.  Our family speaks fluent Spanish, so this can get annoying...

For those of you waiting for University, please keep this in mind:

University is a wonderful place. You get to see and do things you've never imagined, or have only read about. You learn things that you never dreamed were possible.

You'll also work harder than you have ever before in your life.

School eats your time [assuming you are in a useful major, not underwater basket weaving], and takes a heavy toll on extracurricular activities. If you manage to find the time to even attend events where you can meet someone, you will then have to manage to work the time that relationships take into your already crowded schedule. This is difficult for those experienced in this, say nothing of those new to dating.

So, to those who are still in High School, I say this: Test the Waters, find out what it is like. Take a chance. What's the worst that can happen, he/she shoots you down and laughs? They won't matter once you hit University, and they'll have taught you how NOT to do it. To quote [or paraphrase] Thomas Edison: "I didn't fail, I just found another way how not to make a lightbulb"

There's still things I kick myself about not having done back then. Don't be like me. Don't have regrets.

lol, but with me, testing the waters means getting in a pool with 200 man eating sharks that havent been fed...plus, none of those sharks have any thing I see in a girl. Mostly I want them to be smart and not stuck up, and also kind of out there (i'm way out there some times, but other times, i'm normal). only problem is, most arent smart, an if they are, they are so stuck up about it. plus, most girls here are out there, but just keep fading away, never going to touch back down. *Sigh*

and TGA, You are going to be about 50 miles (give or take, mostly give) from me when you hit college. Charleston and greenville isn't exactly a short drive, but its doable in about 5 hours (but if you come visit me, my parents are proably gonna be like "WTF is this?" (not in those words, but something like that) lol

...IDK, but your new sig is driving me nuts! -_- sry, off topicness...

Actually it's NOT off topic, considering what it translates to.

50 Internets to whoever can not only translate it, but can ALSO tell me what it is from. You will, however, LOSE 9000 internets if you are not of age to read it.

Ahem.

Loremaster's siggy sounds like a romance novel or something.  But, on this topic note:  I am glad to say that I am over that girl that I have been mentioning in other girl topics!  It is actually quite the relief for it to be over!  I would like to thank you guys (especially xbolt) for your part in it!  I am glad!

Heh, good to hear. Always good to finally mend a busted heart.

And yeah, the source IS kinda romantic.... So I have a softer side; Bite Me. BTW, Allen, you goofed the translation a bit. Babelfish isn't perfect. But you still get 5 internets for the attempt.

In any case... Anybody know of any good dancing styles for formal events? There's a convention coming up in May that I want to go to, and there's a formal dance during it. I'd like to be able to dance with the WIMMINZ there, and so need a few styles to pursue.

!0_o! Formal Dance?!? ...U R crazy...

I really don't know any dances. I sit on the sidelines and watch people embarrass themselves and try to enjoy the music.

BTW, only dance to the Electric and Cha Cha Slide...Dey is easy, U can't really mess up. But formal dancing brings Waltz, Tango, and Ballroom Dancing to mind...kinda hard, but mostly repetitive (like the slides).

All I can say is "GO GET 'EM, DOOD!!!!1"

lol
