Geeks are all of what you said about nerds, but not smart. Nerds are geeks that are smart.

DEFINITION TIME!

Geek: Someone who is very intelligent in areas of science, mathematics, or technology. Usually looks normal, but with a strange sense of humour, and a culture outside the accepted norm [I.E., cyberculture]

Nerd: Intelligent in the same areas as the Geek, but VERY socially awkward. Usually easy to pick out, as they dress differently than normal [but not necessarily ALL THE TIME]. Tend to only be able to interact with other nerds/geeks with ease. Often speaks in Jargon, even to those who don't know it.

Dork: These usually have average or below average intellect, but have all the social awkwardness of the nerd. In short, the worst of both worlds.

I'm a Geek and a Nerd. When I'm in my engineering mode, I'm a HUGE nerd. MASSIVE NERD. Like, you can just look at me and that little bit at the base of your spine goes "NERD ALERT!". All other times, I'm a geek, dressing normal and being able to pull myself out of speaking jargon. I'm not as socially awkward as your typical nerd, but it's always there.

Explains why I never do well with Wimminz at parties, eh?

Hm...I am some form of cross...not both at certian times, but only certian things of each.

Im intelegent in science and Tech (bleah at math), gots a strange sense of humor, and i'd say i've got cyber culture (every thing focuses at my comp)

but, i'm socialy awakward, I can interact with any adult, but only with other geeks or nerds at the younger levels. I speak Jagon alot (well, more stuff like "when its done", "do a barrel roll", "ftw", "feth", "all your base are belong to us"...U know, catchy frases and such) and only one person has correctly identified each of these...but he is neither geek, nerd, or dork.


THnx for the clearing up...and I'd advise not to mess with it. Lore will drop the admin hammer on ya (JK).

Those are memes from THAT BOARD [which I frequently LURK MOAR on], not jargon. Jargon is like saying "Yeah, I'd use 1040 Annealed to make that part" or "What's the discharge time on that cap in your RC circuit?"

Well I am currently with no one, as of now... As for far as nerds and geeks go, I guess I would be a nerd, but i dunno... No one seems interested in me right now because I am too busy with other things to pay attention to girls... I have to replace all my stuff and do other things like create some games tha i lost...

yeah, I'd rather collect and restore stuff than look for girls...plus, Jargon...I has never heard of. Mostly just tech terms, but not real Jargon. Like, instead of Casual Techie (language of non pro techs) they speak in Full Classic Techmondo (the language that deals with only DieHard techs, no life engineers, and those that really, *really*, know what it means).

Techmondo is mostly pro, and takes a while to learn, while Techie is more down to earth.

I speak Casual Techie most of the time (i'm surrounded by computer illiterates) but if I'm with a fellow tech dood, i'm usually speaking Minor Techmondo.

I speak the following:

Engineer, Manufacturer, Programmer, and Electronics [which computer hardware is a subset]. True professional jargon.

Manufacturer is DIFFICULT to learn, because alot of it is numerical codes relating to metals tools. I'm still not TOTALLY down on it all. Engineer is alot of weird terms relating to design and drawing, but it's easy to pick up if you have the context [try understanding what I mean by the word "Datum" without context]. Programmer is easy, as you learn it as you learn to program. Electronics is fairly easy to pick up as you study, but difficult out of context.

Amazingly, we are in sub topic, but not off it. Sorta...IDK.

I has nothing to do with girls, but my cousin thinks some 'thing' I had for one girl is still alive. (but the girl is now very ugly, she is blonder than is healthy for a girl, and she has a way of repulsing everybody around her.) ... when he said that, i was just all like...wtf, dood?
