So What Movies Have You Watched Lately?
« on: April 10, 2010, 01:26:14 AM »
Got a thread for music, why not movies?

We just watched October Sky. And I gotta say, that's one of the best darn films ever. I've always loved rockets. I used to go out to the park to fly my own models. Good times, good times...

And the theme is also one of my favorites.

Last 3 movies I watched...

Hang 'Em High
TRON
Inglorious Basterds

Hang 'Em High is a 1968 Western...Clint Eastwood. Pretty good, I just happened to walk in and be extremely tired while my dad was watching it XD
They don't make movies like that anymore...its amazing how interesting the story was, yet how shallow it could be acting wise, yet convey such deep meaning. Not bashing the acting, it was actually pretty good (considering XD). If you get to watch it, its pretty good, though its just another mid 60's western. Nothing extremely epic, more like "you see one you've seen 'em all" kinda things. The story was so similar, my dad called the ending after about 30 minutes in...it was a 2 hour movie. Still, fun to watch.

TRON is just amazing. One of the first few movies to make mass use of computer generated footage. Pretty cool stuff. Story is pretty shallow, especially if you don't get what's going on. Still, its funny to watch and see how far we've come...its hilarious. Watch it if you like 80s movies in general, but be ready to rewind it a bit to understand the background (as its hidden, almost...)

Inglorious Basterds...is just an epic movie. Taking place in an alternate Nazi Germany, its a great story with alot of dark humor, intense action, and crazy stuff. I was conflicted watching it, going into it hearing it was a comedy, and also from others that it wasn't so good. It had a different style of humor that wasn't as much LOL as it was a quick hehe before refocusing in on what was being said. It was a good movie, with well developed main characters, and a twisty story line that had me wondering what they were gonna do next...it was awesome, in short. Lotsa violence, and lotsa swearing, but if that doesn't bother you, watch it...srsly.
Don't remember me as I was...I was an idiot.

Last night, my grandma was a nice young lad and got us tickets to Clash of the Titans and How to Train Your Dragon. Both very epic movies.

The last movie I watched was Stephen King's The Mist.  VERY creepy and suspenseful stuff right there (did I watch it by myself with the lights off?  HA!  What a joke!  XD).  It really makes you think about humanity.

Last summer I made the (stupid) decision of watching The Exorcist in the middle of the night in a dark room. Every little creak the house made, I was sure it was a homicidal devilwitch about to jump out.

I read the book three years ago and saw the movie a month or two ago. Very nice.

Last night I watched Avatar for the second time, and noticed that it's set in the year 2154!

I also saw "Mon Oncle" recently, and it's pretty funny, though does get boring at times.

I saw Alice in Wonderland just last night (I'm surprised it was still playing). It was the best I've seen a long time

Has anybody on here seen Avatar?  It just came out on DVD, and I'm thinking of renting it.  I've heard some pretty mixed things about it.

I haven't seen it, but from what I gather, the effects are awesome, but the story leaves much to be desired.

It was awesome, completely and utterly.  I would suggest renting this version of it, but wait until the 3D version comes to DVD to buy it.

People say that the story sucked, but I enjoyed it. If you like Dances with Wolves, you'll like this story.

Avatar had the most intense battle scenes I've seen in a long time. It's definitely worth seeing.

I just saw The Losers yesterday.  It was a surprisingly good action movie. :)
