7 is up and running. It's a LOT faster, but then again, it wiped my hard drive and I don't have norton installed yet... so we'll see.

I know Norton isn't great. It's not my choice

EDIT-

What?! Over 9000? That can't possibly be correct!

EDIT2 - actually, it didn't wipe my hard drive... it's just that fast

Blah, I was always more for the Robot and the Dot than for Clippy. I still use MS Office 2000, by the way. ;)

That's a good one too, I've used it a couple of times at school. I only started using 2003 because Vista didn't like office 97.

97's powerpoint is terrible, so if I have to do one of those I might have to put 2003 on my computer.

Spoke too soon, Office 97 crashed so much that I am putting office '03 on my computer right now. Darn...

I'd say, one day when you're bored, try using XP mode to install office 97. It should work...

Probably, but it's kind of silly to have to boot up XP mode every time I want to use microsoft word... I use it almost every day.

I was trying to price a new wireless card, I tried searching for "wireless card" and "wireless lan" on NewEgg, and I kept getting 3G cards. I'm looking for the... :facepalm green thing with wires on it that goes into your computer and attaches to the motherboard. I used to call them "cards", but I guess that term expired a few years ago with 3G cards.

Does this look like a good one?

I'd like one without an antenna, though. I'm trying to connect to a router, by the way.

wait, are you on a laptop or a desktop? (never asked before...)
That's for desktop...

Also, its Wireless G. Everyone is making a move to Wireless N, but if you only have a G router, then that possibly could be fine. I've just never heard of the company...

laptop. It's a pretty standard netgear router. What I meant by "G" is that I don't want a card that connects to cell phone signals. Just a normal wifi connection is all I need.

Yeah, with a laptop, you need special types of cards:

This is an internal miniPCIe
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833106040&cm_re=mini_pcie-_-33-106-040-_-Product

and this is a cardbus or PCMCIA card
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833164140&cm_re=laptop_wireless_card-_-33-164-140-_-Product

Those really are your only options. I couldn't really find any other cards like the first type, but IDK, maybe somewhere else there are some...
the second type is most common, and probably your best bet. Most laptop computers have at least one of these slots now. you just pop it in, start the management software, and you're online. (but it uses your wifi router, not a 3G or cellphone network)

And by G, i'm talking about the different wireless standards: A/B/G/N
N is the one that is the strongest, fastest, and its what we're currently moving towards. But if your router is a standard Netgear, its probably just plain G. Most modern cards will connect fine.
