75's textures
« on: May 18, 2010, 08:33:17 PM »

I just made this as a higher quality version of the original IFOC blue wall texture. What do you think? It should be used in PNG format

Compared to the original.

Might not look like much of a difference, but when you zoom in to in-game size, mine looks less like a shag carpet =)

I fixed the repeat problem, as you can see.

If you see something you like, feel free to use any of my textures in any game.

its more of a gradient than the original, but its a good improvement.

yeah... I started out with something more interesting, but I had to use a gradient instead because it wasn't symmetric and looked funny when it repeated.

Lucius was making some high res Textures. He disappeared though.

nope. It's .png, same size, but it uses shades of blue that aren't in the doom palette. It's 128X128, ready to go into the wad.

Those are pretty nice, I wonder how he managed to have a shadow pattern that complex while still allowing it to repeat well.

His texture on the blue wall is nice, but I'm not so sure the walls on the inside of the IFOC would look that bumpy...

for mine, do you think I should add texture to the concrete parts (top and bottom)? On one hand it looks pretty good as it is, but on the other hand, there's no concrete in the world that's as smooth as glass... at this texture, it's not concrete, it's marble.

EDIT - more screenshots

Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

When I look at it, I'm not entirely sure that mine can stack up against the original blue wall. I'll see if there's anything I can do to improve it.

IDK...

Yours seems to lack certain 'texture' to it. To me it looks like a solid blue wall (The darker center is harder to see), and a solid white stripe at the bottom/top. It needs some more detail. In that link, I'm pretty sure he puts down his steps, you should try them; they are really helpful.

I can see why he used high-res, the filters look pretty silly in a 128X128 image

I'm going to give some filters a try, I've never done it before. It'll mean going to high-res, but it should turn out well.
