What do you think? Should I create a Chex Quest Roguelike? I'll tell you right now, It'll be mostly like Angband(the second link) and almost nothing like DoomRL(the first link), I just posted the first link to show that it can be done, and has been done, for Doom. Just thought I'd ask if anyone even thought that this was a good idea.

Nobody(well, almost nobody) needs to know how to program. In order to create the game, all you have to do is soft-mod the original program, and then make a few tweaks to the hardcoding to change the opening splash screen, title bar, etc. and VOILA, a Chex Roguelike! I could do most of the soft-modding, I just need people to suggest ideas for flemoids, classes, races, backgrounds, replacements for some of the items, etc. I'm going to need a lot of ideas for melee weapons, because they are the most common weapons(although I can change that if needed), and also some ideas for new Flemoids(including upper level boss-like characters), things like that. A lot of this I already know how to do, I just need some "people input". I'll post some polls to find out what to do about specifics, this topic is mostly just to find out if anyone's interested.

Good news! I have already modded several character classes(eg. warrior) and types(eg. Chex, Kixx), and am working on modding the enemies on the first several levels. I should have a beta out within a few days. I still need ideas, though, especially for the enemies. I can't have just the same few enemies popping up everywhere!

Hmm... I'd help in the enemy department, but i'm a bit busy atm. I'm hoping on releasing my Flem Wurm sometime soon (check the Skulltag Pack area), and you can use that. I have some more ideas, but I want to develop them more first.

I just need ideas for names and such, not actual sprites. If you look at the beta I'm releasing, you'll see that there are no graphics(and there probably won't be, either!)

Sad News. I am needing to abandon this project for now. :-((((( I might pick it up later, but I have found that there are not only too many inherent problems with this project, but also, I have other projects that are of better quality. Check out my other upcoming posts, Chex Platformer and Cross-Chex, for more info. I may come back to this idea later, or if somebody wishes to pick up where I left off(which wasn't very far from the beginning), that's fine; just ask for a copy of the files.
