[Could a moderator put this in the news ticker when I bring my servers over to Zandronum?]
I'm not sure what exactly the cause was, but Skulltag is now a dead port. Zandronum is literally the next alpha build of Skulltag, with some aspects missing.
It could be a while before this Zandronum build is stable, both master servers (Skulltag and Zandronum) will be running for a while, though. The Skulltag Master Server will be going down eventually though.
What's the same in Zandronum:
All game modes are retained, including Skull Tag
What's not:
All sprites are gone that skulltag added, all of the stock maps are gone, and all of the skins are gone.
It now supports 3d floors in software and competitive game modes.
Also, the music included in skulltag_data.pk3 is gone.
I've heard that it's possible to host a server with skulltag_data.pk3 to run old ST wads.
So my mod is now temporarily renamed to "The Chex Pack" because I don't like the sound of "Chex Zandronum Pack"
A few days ago I hosted TNCQ with chex quest arena for nostalgia... I guess that's all for this port. Was fun while it lasted.

For now I'm calling it "Chex Pack", that's not a bad name though.
And yes, CC, it's true. Soon there won't even be a master server for Skulltag, it happened suddenly. Startling indeed. I hosted a TNCQ server with cqarena on the stock ST maps and played on it with QG just to remember how long I've been playing on Skulltag, it's still hard to believe that it's over.
Also my servers have been brought over to Zandronum, though their master server isn't working correctly (it sends Skulltag servers as Zand servers and mine don't show up at all for some reason, though they are broadcasting and sending to the right hostname).
The move isn't news-worthy yet, I'll post again when their server is running.

The new build of Zandronum is intended to replace Skulltag 98D. It is stable enough for 24/7 server use and I have switched over all of my servers.
EDIT - also, their master server is working fine now
