I didn't even know they made those.

Oi, if you can afford it, get the best you can. That looks pretty epic, TBH.

My only thing: it might put the bottleneck on your RAM or graphics card...

O_o

Do you have Windows 7? If so, the product key for the 32bit version is also for the 64bit version. Find a disc of x64 SOMEWHERE and load it up! It'll be MUCH nicer.
Because with that processor and your existing stuff, You'll need some more power.

Dude... I wouldn't get 8. From what I've seen they've streamlined it to look and feel like a mobile touch system. *shudders*

I'm still not sure about 8. Underneath Metro is still basically Win7, so I'm wondering what's changed in the framework besides the whole touchy-tablet thing.

Well, the design just irks me. If you've ever seen the Windows Phone, its like that.

the reason im skeptical is well... im an intel fanboy

My AMD Phenom (some numbers I forget) 3.0 GHz 6 core processor loads all my stuff instantly. It'll run everything I throw at it. For games, I've ran Crysis and Crysis 2 on the highest settings with little to no issues. (Issues being Direct X 11 instead of 9) Although that's mostly graphics, it basically means any game won't fail on the processor side. (CIV 5 runs great on my computer.) Unless you plan to do some hardcore rendering video stuffs, you should go for it. Since the one you picked out is more powerful than mine, it should run even better than that.

I had a Intel processor in my laptop. Although it's outdated... I'm not missing it, at all.
I know what you're thinking. No, I don't like peanut butter.

If I had to choose between the real world or the Chex Quest Fan forums; I'd choose the Chex Quest fan forums.

im not worried about the power of the processor at all, im worried about the longevity of it. i paid $250 for the i5 quad core i have now but something electrically messed up and ended its life way too early (2 years which it wasnt its fault i dont blame intel) so i just dont want to put out a whole lot more and have an amd break on me. but you know i think my board and processor are both under warranty so i might see if i cant get a replacement of what i have

Zec, just saying, I used to be an 'intel fanboy', but no longer, not since Replica's build.

That much power for the price is amazing. Intel is just holding back IMHO. I wouldn't turn down an Intel anymore (my i7 laptop works very nicely), but I wouldn't proactively get one either.

AMD is fine. And Rep, even hardcore video rendering would be great on your processor. Heck, Vegas works nearly 1:1 on my 3.3 C2Quad. A faster, better multicored system with optimized software would work wonders.

Wait, hold on...

"Back in the day," I was an AMD fanboy.  It was when I built my current PC that I went Intel.  AMD seemed to have lost focus.  Am I hearing that they are back on track?  Do they still have horrible heat problems?  (I had more heat problems with my AMD Athlon 64 then any other processor.)
