Headsets

Hey ...wanting some new headphones for Counter Strike Source ....going into Cal season ..but low on doh ...any suggestions

• No earbuds. They're flimsy, don't stay in your ears well, and as has happened to me, one wire can tear where it and another separate.
• Get something that will be comfortable to wear for long periods of time (unless that won't be a problem, but I'd still invest for the future, anyway). Something that completely envelops your ears will be more comfortable than something that only partially covers them.

I have a $20 dollar Radio Shack headset that I use for CSS.  It's very flimsy, and the pads that cushion your head are starting to fall off, but if you're broke and looking for something affordable; find one similar.  The microphone part of it still works great, and I've had this for a few years.

There was this one I saw...Over the ears, with a microphone more like Nascar Crew Cheif or Pilot than a gaming headset...but it worked, and was rather nice...and slightly expensive.

I don't know about headsets, but the best set of headphones I've ever had were so-called earhooks.  They're basically glorified earbuds, but the hooks on them go over your ears, and they stay on great.  The sound is also phenomenal, which is great for me when I'm playing CQ, as I can hear what direction an enemy is coming from.

Ugh. I also have $20 headphones (they were on "sale" in a local store) from RadioShack. They're comfortable, but not much else. I'll occasionally have to push the jack upward to get any sound at all, and occasionally, I'll lose sound in the right ear piece (the one that doesn't have a wire, but receives the sound from the wire that goes into the left ear piece and through the headband). To get the sound back in that ear, I have to jiggle with the in-line volume controls, which may work immediately (before it does it again, sometimes, even while I'm listening), or may take a couple or few minutes. I doubt this is normal for headphones. I may take them back, since 30 days haven't elapsed since the time of purchase.

Yea i had one were you had to move the wire around to get any sound ......it sucks

I've had a couple that did that. A real pain...


I currently have some Sennheisers, but they're a bit on the expensive side...

Actually, the only pair of headphones that have lasted intact in my house were some big KOSS ones. Then the cushions came off, and the wire got broken. all the others are either down in the right ear, or not working at all. I need some.

But also, if you find a good headphones, just buy a nice desktop mic. They get sound really great, and work fine.
