A New Quest: GZdoom?
« on: April 17, 2014, 01:43:55 PM »
So, A new quest is the project i have been working on for quite a while, and now, I have put some features in it that are only supported in gzdoom.

So those features are:

Reflective Surfaces such as water, shiny floors, and etc.

And 3d floors. now, these floors are used for things like, Police barriers on ralston for streets (Inspired by TUCQ) And, I'm not going full GZdoom here, but that's all the features in GZdoom that i will use.

And if i do make it in GZdoom, then that would be  :whale

3d floors work in zdoom, gzdoom, and zandronum, but sloped 3d floors are invisible in the software renderer (used in zdoom and "optional" for zandronum)

reflective surfaces I believe work in zandronum in opengl but I'm not sure

remember that some people can't use the opengl (gzdoom) renderer due to not having a good graphics card, and if they don't use opengl sloped 3d floors are completely invisible walls; you can still use sloped 3d floors but add some other kind of barrier there so that it's not confusing to people who can't see them.

Yeah, 3D Floors used to work in ZDoom, but now they do not. :(

So I tried GZDoom, and it worked great!  :whale

Also, as for reflective floors, I do not use Zandronum, so I use GZDoom.

And, I Forgot to say i am also using Dynamic Lighting, And I am pretty sure that only works in GZDoom.

Yeah, 3D Floors used to work in ZDoom, but now they do not. :(

Flat (non-sloped) 3d floors have worked since zdoom 2.6 and zandronum 1.0's software renderer and they are still working now.

Zandronum's opengl renderer supported 3d floors before it was even called zandronum.

Also, as for reflective floors, I do not use Zandronum, so I use GZDoom.

More or less the same thing; the only difference between zdoom and gzdoom is that one uses a software renderer and the other uses an opengl renderer, zandronum has both.

What really makes a project (G)zdoom specific is how you do your DECORATE, SBARINFO, and ACS coding.

That doesn't work in zdoom, but it does work in gzdoom and zandronum's opengl renderer.

Also, Dynamic Lights are a more aesthetic thing than anything else, meaning using them doesn't necessarily make your map OpenGL-engine specific.

, I Knew that. also, I do not have much experience with Zandronum, since the only instance I have  used zandronum, is to play chex skulltag pack.

so what i am saying is, i have Never  Made a mod in Zandronum.
