Happy Birthday Boingo!

Yeah.  You guys are too slow, so I decided to start this topic myself.

I was born back when hippies were still around, when rich people paid taxes, goods were made here at home instead of in China, and Americans weren't as gun crazy as they are now.

The 1970s were boring.  Trust me on this.

The early 1980s were great.  Sure.  The women's hairstyles were a little bit wacky with all their frizzy curls, but we had good music, video arcades, and the Commodore 64.

The late 1980s were not so great.  The Berlin wall may have come down, but the radio stations were playing 1960s Motown garbage, because a cruddy movie called "The Big Chill" made it a craze.  The music industry that had been fresh and vibrant in the early '80s went stale.  Heavy metal started to sound all the same, rap "music" started becoming popular, much to the distress of music lovers, and the rest was a bunch of cookie cutter stamped out bands with no real talent.

I somehow got through the 1990s.  I am not sure how.

I finally got on the internet in January of 2000, just after my birthday ...

... and the rest is history I guess.

Happy Birthday Boingo, you old fart.
Did we really just spend the last decade talking about Chex Quest? Yes. Yes we did.

I regret nothing!

We celebrated my sister's and my birthdays (Her's in just three days before mine, so we usually celebrate together.) at a fancy restaurant last night.

The evening did not start out well.  I have no vehicle, and no one remembered to pick me up!  One would think getting the person who's birthday party it is to the birthday party would be something of a priority!

They eventually noticed somebody important was missing and finally came to get me.

Once at the restaurant, I had a marvelous time. So did everybody else. This was an actual restaurant this time, where the cooks actually make the meals (not a chain restaurant like Red Lobster, where the meals are litterally frozen in bags in the freezer and reheated by unskilled kitchen staff), and the meal I got was simply wonderful.  I got a prime rib dinner, and rathar than just tasting like any old steak, it tasted like a wonderful cross between steak and roast beef. Every mouthful was a delight, and I happily knawed on the bone like a dog. The Yorkshire pudding (a sort of hollow muffin) was filled with gravy and was delicious, and the Linguini Alfredo I had on the side was the best I have ever had in a restaurant (Like I said, in a chain restaurant it would have just been reheated from frozen or a boil in bag dinner.).

I was too full for dessert, but I was encouraged to have it anyway, and it turned out to be a good thing. The cake was made wit h Skor bars, but was still light and fluffy and delicious.  I had no problem putting it in, in spite of already being full.

I wil skip the part about opening all the cards, but let's just say I have an awful lot of lottery tickets to scratch today.

Anyway, a wonderful time was had by all, and it was a great way to celebrate my birthday.

 :)
