Mythbusters Has Been Cancelled

That's right.  The Discovery Channel has just cancelled the only show in its lineup that is worth watching.

It's the only show they have left that people want to watch, and soon it will be gone.

R.I.P. Mythbusters.

R.I.P. Discovery Channel.

Hello Garbage Channel with occasional Shark Week shows.

Quote from: some guy on disgus
Time for a brief retrospective:
"I reject your reality and substitute my own."
"Failure is always an option."
"Am I missing an eyebrow?"
"For Science!"
"I'm having an A-Team moment!"
and the personal favorite of me and my kiddos:
"Jamie want big boom."
Fare thee well, Mythbusters, and God speed!

The goofy things that went on with the show just by the nature of the crazy myths they were trying to test, all of the "what the heck am I doing" moments that Adam always talked about, were a really rare thing that I don't think any show could really replace entirely.

Part of me wishes Mythbusters could've been on forever, but on the other hand the show's been on a really long time, and nothing lasts forever (except The Simpsons I guess).

Maybe the problem is there really hasn't been anything I can think of that came out in recent years that could replace it; I used to look enviously at people with cable who could watch this show a long time ago, but now when I get a chance to watch TV, I watch mostly local broadcast channels... I get the feeling sometimes that cable turned into broadcast TV 2.0 but with somehow less variety.

I don't know about you guys but I don't get much out shows where they seem to spend more time showing the drama that went on at the shop than showing how they built the thing they're filming about. I'm not saying Mythbusters was ever a super serious science show or anything, but for me it was really entertaining in a way no other show's been.  Just a bunch of guys getting together and seeing if what Hollywood does would work in real life. Expensive and dangerous? Yes, but it's TV, a great opportunity to do stuff you'd never be able to do yourself.

Shh!  I'm taking a break from reality.

I have been following Tested for a year or so now.  Most of the stuff doesn't interest me, but it sometimes has good stuff.

Honestly, the best part about Mythbusters was watching the builds. The design process was what interested me, not as much the outcome. The show Fast n' Loud has a bit of this with cars, but I REALLY wish they'd bring back old-school Junkyard Wars. Mythbusters without the myths.
Did we really just spend the last decade talking about Chex Quest? Yes. Yes we did.

I regret nothing!

I used to enjoy Junkyard Wars (original title, Scrapheap Challenge).

I used to watch it on TLC until TLC turned into a reality show wasteland.

Then I switched to the Discovery Channel ... until the Discovery Channel also turned into a reality show wasteland.

Oh!  How I wish there was a channel like TLC and the Discovery Channel were before they turned to garbage!
