I guess you're going to be making this for zDoom / Zandronum / gzDoom because you're using chex3 monsters and putting textures on floors. I think that's a good call, start simpler with maps instead of writing a bunch of DEHACKED just to get off the ground.

The screenshots don't really show a lot so I'm just going based on what I can see....

1. For the first screenshot that gray texture doesn't look that great as a floor, and the gray stucco behind the switch doesn't really go with the rest of the room

2. 2nd screenshot: I like the idea, open air brown bases can be cool. I see a couple texture problems.

3. 3rd screenshot: It's probably not a good idea to put slimy textures on every wall in a room, I'd recommend using it for emphasis on an otherwise rocky environment, or use it like water and have it "fill up" the bottom of your room.

The problem is if you just wallpaper the walls with slime, it just doesn't look right, slime wouldn't have those nice square corners in the corners of your room.

Aside: TUCQ has a better TALLSNOT texture than the one included in Chex3.wad, the one in Chex3.wad has a tiny black line at the top of it that kind of messes things up a little. I can't tell which one you're using from the screenshot but if you're using the chex3.wad one, take a look at the one in TUCQ.

4. 4th screenshot: It might be a cool layout, if you put some flying monsters around that area they'll seek the players through the maze and make it more interesting.

The detailing in all of these shots could use some work but I'm assuming that's not done yet, I'm not really the best guy to ask about detailing.

I'll try to make the textures for the train tracks. Also, if you want a sub-forum for this just PM Richie, he checks these forums at least once every couple of days to my knowledge.

K, I finished the train track textures, however they may not repeat very well, you'll have to try them in CQ

That's not a bad texture for the track ties, but keep in mind that unless hes using UDMF he'll need a 90 degree rotated version as well

IMO it's best to wait for a while on that, this hasn't been going on for very long.

I think the project is coming along OK so far but I'd still suggest asking for a subforum after at least one, maybe a couple of releases.

Hey guys, small little update.

The first episode coming along smoothly, but it getting sort of linear. I mean my ideology is usually that linear is still fun if you make it fun but this is a tribute to chef quest so it should PLAY like chex quest, and that means key hunting and I need to sprinkle more enemies in as well.

Plus the levels are short, so I should make them either longer or more impactful. Or both which us better I suppose...

Hey guys this is a quick update.

Sorry for the slow reports but I'm not planning anymore so I don't need to really talk much.

The game is coming along.. Episode 1 isn't done yet I'm still revising enemy placements.

I've done some progress in episode two and i haven't touched episode 3.

I've made maps for most of episode 2 and i have level plans done for all of the episodes.

Yeah I see no reason why this won't be released by Halloween this year, I'll keep you posted

I am referring exclusively to episodes here, there are 5 missions in each episode and there are 3 episodes planned.

Since necroposting is a 2 month period (I think) you should be good, but also try to give a warning and put high-res images in a spoiler for people with slow computers or poor internet connections.

I had a couple minutes to make textures today, I sort of misread what EtherBot was asking for, I thought he was looking for conveyor belt textures, I went ahead and made two (one roller conveyor and one belt conveyor), anybody's welcome to use them if they like.

They are in the doom palette and don't use any translucency so they should be compatible with even vanilla doom. They are 128 x 64. It would be really easy to make these taller or shorter if needed.

EDIT: Also I might be able to animate them to make them moving conveyors if you guys like them

I didn't ask specifically but those may still come in handy and they look pretty good.

Vista, that cactus is fine if you can make a similar sprite.
