My Computer Is Down
« on: September 07, 2020, 12:11:10 PM »
My computer went belly up last night.  Something nasty happened to Windows, and the blasted thing crashes whenever I try to boot up.

I am currently messaging from my old eMachines computer from 20 years ago.

Until I can get it fixed, I am not going to have access to my email or Discord.  This is really about the only place I can get in.  I am also not sure if I will be able to work on any of my projects until I can get it fixed.

I will let you know how it goes.

Hey man! Just thought you would like to know, you can use the Discord web client in Firefox, I just tested it in WIndows XP and Firefox 52.8.0esr. So just log in with your password.

Well that isn't very good. I had to walk through html storms and climb a .php mountain to get over here and post this.

Hopefully you'll find your win7 disc.

It would be nice if you can get the comp to boot in safe mode.

Is there any kind of error message or a beep when the comp fails to boot?

Have some reading material, maybe you can find the issue without having to pay somebody to fix it.

I can link you a copy of the Windows 7 ISO if you want, Then you can burn it to DVD or use Rufus and run it from a USB stick.

I did a system restore on my Thinkpad T430 notebook this afternoon. I also got my 512 MB compact flash card in the mail, so I can experiment with my 486. My replacement controller card still won't be here until the 12th.

Monkey sent me some packages.  Only one is left to arrive, and that is only some cables.

As minor as that sounds, I have decided to wait for those cables.  Then I am going to let Monkey talk me through everything like I am a village idiot so that nothing is left to chance.

I don't want to make some kind of mistake and ruin everything.

Ahh very good. Won't be long now and you'll be all set up again.
