Triple post!

I finished the STBAR GFX lump, and I am very happy with it.  I completely ditched my custom Q because i didn't like how it looked, an replaced it with a slightly edited version of the original.  I also tried out something I haven't seen done before, but I'll leave out the details until the next release.

Speaking of which, the voiced cutscenes are nearly ready.  I'm working hard at implementing the voices, and already have some in, and everything runs pretty well up to this point, while at the same time not taking up too much more space then usual.

Still, it could be a little while until the next release.  I have a question:  Would you rather I released the next version as soon as the cutscenes are done, or would you like it better if I released upon completion of the next level or two?

Just to add a little more detail, if you wait for the new levels, me and Vladek254 will likely be able to get you the retextured levels as well, at least most of them.

I will make sure to do so.  Since it seems that we have a consensus, I'll finish the two levels originally planned for this release before having a release.  It may take a month more to get good maps done in both slots, so try early to mid August as a hopeful release date.  That's if camp doesn't get in the way...

All right, I was working on getting a custom texture or two into the .WAD, thus the thread in Tech Support, but it would seem that to have a new texture, you need to have all of the original patch files/texture files in your .WAD.  What this basically means is, I could do custom textures, but I'd have to have quite a bit of a bigger .WAD.  So, here it is:

For the next release, would you prefer:

1) Status quo, no custom textures.
2) Custom textures, no merger.
3) Full TUCQ, CoFP merger.

I'm planning on doing the merger anyway after episode one is finished, but, depending on your preference, I may perform the merger early.

OPTION ONE. I can stand greyness for awesomeness one more release...

Also, customtextures...easiest way:
Add a patch of the whole texture to the PATCHES part of the wad.
go to the PNAMES lump and add one to the list: a new number and the name of the patch
go to TEXTURES lump and create a new texture, give it dimensions...bla bla bla.
add a patch, then type the # of your texture patch in. It will load it up. and it should work.

All right!  Thanks to AG, this is officially irrelevant, the merger is not going to be held until the end of episode 1.

All right, making good headway on the E2M2 project.  I'm only about 30% done, but the 30% I've done is the hardest 30%, lots of scripting, a good bit of floor over floor, with a little more planned for the future.  I'm very pleased with how it looks so far, so I'm hopeful that I'll be able to release a new version sometime this month.  This plan may change if school hits me too hard.

Sorry for the delay, I've been off of the internet since last Friday due to problems with the DSL company.  Sufficed to say, they're trying to overcharge us by close to $200.  We're considering calling in DACO on them...

In other news!  School has started and all is going well.  Still, even with the pressure of the school day, senior class fundraisers/meetings, my new janitorial job, and the constant everyday drag of school life I am pleased to announce:

E2M2 has been completed.

I'm proud of it.  In addition to the five story staircase, this level includes a 'healthpod' a maze with a new dynamic to solving it, and a fragglescripted hologram.  I'll leave it at that for the time being.  E1M6 is underway, and I hope to be able to A) Finish it and B) Get an internet signal strong enough to release it before the end of August.  Don't hold your breath, I'm swamped, but also aided by one thing I hadn't had before: A schedule.  Chex Quest related activities: 5-6:30 PM.

Interesting sidenote to the finishing of the level: It includes all of five flemoids.  The rest is all puzzles, but don't worry.  I made them make a bit more sense than the water pump level.

Update: E1M6 is chuggin' right along.  The above screenshot, which I am very proud of, is the front entrance to the flemoid base where they keep the under-construction invasion teleporter.  Of course, would I actually let you go in through the front door?
