The Story Behind Your Avatar
« on: March 28, 2008, 03:20:55 AM »
Some Avatars are self-explanatory... and some aren't. So come here and explain away! (Now that I can upload my collection of GIF avatars, I plan on having a ton of odd ones.)

Anyways, the respect the broccoli one is pretty darn self-explanatory.  ;D

Despite the fact that it now shows up as Bubba-ho-tep  :D

Mine is the unit symbol for the Eridani Light Horse, an elite mercenary unit from the board game "BattleTech".
Did we really just spend the last decade talking about Chex Quest? Yes. Yes we did.

I regret nothing!

Score! I was hoping someone would say something before I had to come out and reveal the story behind it. I love love love Bubba Ho-Tep (and Bruce Campbell).  ;D

And I was thinking yours was BattleTech related, but I wasn't sure.

I've only ever seen half of a Bruce Campbell movie, the second half of Army of Darkness. It was really weird IMO...

Of COURSE I'd get it! I'm a Basement-Dweller [or would be if basements existed where I grew up], so Bruce Campbell is like, THE GREATEST EVAR.

As for the logo, yeah, you nailed it. I've ALWAYS played as the Light Horse, oddly enough. Never have played as anyone else.

I got a fixation with Manuel Calavera when I discovered him in a 3D movie making program. I began using him as an online persona, despite having never even played Grim Fandango in my entire life (I finally played the demo a few months back, but that hardly counts). In retrospect, it doesn't make sense using Manuel Calavera avatars, but the name and identity has stuck, and... the air about him just seems to fit my personality more than other personas I considered.

This is a picture of Allen Walker of D.Gray Man--a manga/anime that I used to be a fan of/transleted (to an extent).

I am about the same story as Allen.  I have considered changing my avatar so I don't seem like such a Otaku. (For that is a horrible thing to be!)

Meh, but then it wouldn't be Kuwabara and Allen! Nothing wrong with being an Anime fan, and having an Anime avatar doesn't make you a smelly Otaku.

and actually...unless you are an anime junkie (no offense), who would know the background on the guy?
