But for a good quality durable laptop that will last ya, you gonna pay dearly. Which is the problem...

Why use a service that is, no doubt, run by nitwits, when you could fix the problem yourself.

Well laptops are a bit tougher to service than desktops for the most part... glad you're enjoying yours though.

For what it's worth, if you raise your price range a little bit, you might try an HP laptop.
Well my friend has an HP, he said its really nice for what he paid for it. The only flaw he found with it was the "Exhaust" Fan is on the bottom of the laptop, so he practically has to have his cooling pad with him wherever he goes.
As for the Best Buy link. I recommend buying from Newegg, Usually better prices,
@Acers, I went for an Acer laptop last year. Which in all reality was NOT a good decision, but hey you win some you lose\learn some.

Because I'm lazy and have no time to support family anymore, I just tell them all to buy Apple so I don't have to reinstall Windows 7 a year down the road. Expensive though. ;D

I am still finding this chart to be an accurate look at laptop reliability:

*Gonna give HP some props on their EliteBook enterprise laptop series though. They're pretty pimped out and nicely built, but they aren't representative of HP consumer level laptops which are still utter crap.

Consumer Reports' graph of computer brand reliability is a bit different:

1. Apple (9%)
2. Acer (10%)
3. Toshiba (10%)
4. Lenovo (11%)
5. Gateway (11%)
6. HP (11%)
7. Sony (12%)
8. Compaq (12%)
9. Dell (12%)

The chart I've got is a year or two old now, but still was reflective of my personal experiences in the last while. Good find though! Thanks for the post. Are those percentages instances of problems then? Apple being the one with the least trouble? Because that would still put Dell, HPaq, Sony and crew in the lead for cruddiest laptops, with Acer having made some substantial gains (Go Acer?) and Toshiba holding steady on being a decent buy.

Also, total opinion here,

So basically that Chart says that Asus would be a good bet for a laptop?
Meaning my arrogantabouthisHPlaptop friend might be experiencing problems eh?

I don't know why they don't list Asus, because they have a few in their ratings (not many), but maybe their surveys did get enough Asus results or something.

As for choosing a laptop, as I said earlier it won't be until later in the year when I'll be needing it and have the money to buy anything.

Happy hunting, LAZ. It'll be interesting to see what sort of deals you can get when you're ready to buy.

On the reliability thing, I was reading PC World today, and they had a list of most reliable brands, and the top four were Apple, Samsung, Toshiba, and Asus.
